About Ms. Drummer
It is my extreme pleasure that I welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year! As your child’s fourth grade teacher, I would like to take the time to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Ann Arbor. I am a graduate of Ann Arbor Public Schools. I attended Michigan State University. GO GREEN! GO WHITE! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in elementary education in 2007. I went on to complete my student teaching internship in Detroit. I taught fourth grade at a Title 1 school in Georgia for one year, and then returned to Ann Arbor. I taught fourth grade at Burns Park Elementary for two years. This will be my fourth year teaching at Carpenter. I am extremely excited to be teaching at Carpenter Elementary!! I also have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Eastern Michigan University. I have received extensive training and excellent instruction through my experiences at Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, and during my career in the Ann Arbor Schools. I am looking forward to spending this year teaching and learning with your child as well as working with you to make that experience as meaningful as possible. The other exciting part of my life is being a mother! I am a proud mother to a very beautiful and vibrant little girl!! She is the joy of my life! I enjoy spending time with my daughter, reading, shopping, cooking, interior decorating, and traveling.
Teaching Philosophy
First and foremost, I strongly believe that all students will learn. I have high expectations for all students regardless of their background and or personal circumstance. It is my goal to ensure that I maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive classroom community in which all students feel successful. I hope to instill a life-long passion of learning in each student. I believe that to be an effective educator I must do my best to accommodate the different needs and interest that are represented in the classroom. My classroom management is consistently firm, fair, and friendly. I would like to clarify that fair does not mean that each child gets the same thing. Instead fair means that each child receives what he or she needs. I will enforce logical consequences if classroom rules are broken.
